Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 1983, my fantastic Dad (Robert Anthony Taylor) started running between lamp-posts to get fit - he was 35 years old. By the late 80's, he was running 7 days a week and competing in competitive 1/2 and full marathons every weekend. In 1988, at the age of 40, he completed his first and only London Marathon in a time of 3hrs 34 mins - he was super-fit and my hero.
In 1989 my Dad became unwell and he found running really difficult; he was initially told he had a virus but was eventually diagnosed with bowel cancer. After an operation, he recovered enough to start running again, but was no longer able to run competitively.
The cancer returned in March 1995 and on 8th May, he died aged 47. I miss him every day.
I am proud to be running the London Marathon for Beating Bowel Cancer on 22nd April 2012, at the same age my Dad was when he ran it in 1988; I won't be as fast as he was, but I know he'll be with me for the full 26.2 miles - he remains my inspiration and my hero.
Please sponsor me as much as you can, so we can help to beat this horrible disease. Thank you.
