Rescue efforts by Save the Children are underway as the worst flooding may still be yet to come as rivers crest in the next few days. Save the Children are on the ground responding to children and families affected by Hurricane Florence and have shared an update on their response efforts:
- In and around the Raleigh-Durham region, Save the Children are reaching families in shelters with hygiene supplies, cribs and other essentials they need to keep their young children comfortable and healthy.
- They have placed child-friendly spaces in shelters for children can receive the support they need from trained adults.
- Save the Children is also collaborating with partners including the Red Cross, FEMA, and the US Dept of Health and Human Services.
