hi , I am running the London marathon because by a miracle and some sweat I still can (or want to try). For those that don't know I was diagnosed in 2015 with terminal lung cancer spreading to my lymph nodes and fracturing bones in my neck. I was very quickly matched up with a new drug called afatinib  which after nearly 2 years is controlling the size of my lung tumour and at present keeping any other cancel cells at bay .

After getting up off the floor from after that announcement I started running and running and have kept on running ever since and have lost 2 stone and the man boobs (well very nearly) all with the help of my lovely wife Carol , my boys Greig, Scott and Rhuardi , plus encouraged on by extended family and some very special friends fi Birkie .

Also more thanks to my employers and fellow colleagues at Dundee council for their support and help .

To all the staff at Ninewells hospital, you have been magnificent and keep up the great work .

But Maggies have reached me with their basic ethos or listening and advice to me and other cancer victims and their families . So a very heartfelt and very very special thanks for the help of Dundee maggies. I don't think I would be capable of this marathon without there care .

So please, if you can spare a few bob, manys a mickle mak a muckle and donate to maggies .
