The VIPs are the children's transplant sports team from Evelina London Children's Hospital - Not only very important people and patients but Very Important Penguins, as our transplant clinic is in the penguin zone!!

The British Transplant Games are a national sporting event; through competitive sport our VIPs who have all received a life saving kidney transplant and in some cases a liver transplant as well can demonstrate their return to fitness, celebrate life, whilst showing that organ donation can have such a positive outcome. However, a transplant is not a cure, it's a life long treatment and our VIPs will be attending hospital regularly for their entire lives! We want each child to be supported & encouraged to reach their potential in life, particularly after overcoming obstacles such as serious and long term illness, multiple hospital admissions and operations and feel the transplant games helps them toward this goal! 

We're getting ready for this year's Games which will be held in Bolton in August and lots of training and preparation is underway because we have a lot of records to beat!!! Last year's Games in Sheffield were wonderful with our children competing in multiple sporting events. Nicole won the best 15-17 year old athlete winning 5 gold medals in her 5 events, whilst Rian won the best athlete award for the 6-8 year olds, winning 5 gold medals - we are so very proud of you both and all our VIPs who really gave their all during the Games which was a real celebration of life!! We took home a huge medal haul of 52 medals -Fab!!
