Everest Trek for United World Schools

Everest Trek for United World Schools · 4 June 2017
On June 4th, a two man team from England and Australia will embark on the adventure of a lifetime and stand face to face with Mount Everest for the children of Nepal.
The team have partnered with United World Schools, a charity who build networks to provide free education for poor and destitute children in the world's poorest regions.
The inspiration behind the climb is the belief that education is the key to unlocking a country’s potential for economic growth, improved health, gender equality, peace and good governance.
Nepal is currently ranked 145th in the education index. You are more than likely educated in a country where it is considered a crime not to receive an education. Familiar only with westernised society, we often fail to recognise how fortunate we are to have an education that teaches us to communicate, understand one another and sustain our countries.
In the wake of the second devastating earthquake in Nepal, schools across the country suffered irreparable damage, leaving children stripped of their hopes and ambition. Having both attended university in Sydney and London, we have experienced first hand how an education equals opportunity and more importantly, creates a feeling of self fulfilment and accomplishment. Without schools providing children with a solid education, Nepal will never escape the poverty that blinds its sensational beauty.
The climb will take 14 days and the team will reach a final altitude of 17,598 feet, over 3.5 miles high. All donations will go directly to the the registered charity United World Schools and a private bank account will be hosted on Facebook for any offline donations.
