Story
I'm proud to be the MP for Leeds North East and as part of that role I have had a long-standing connection with St Gemma's Hospice which is in the heart of my constituency.
Since 2005, I have also been the Chair of the All-Party Hospice and Palliative Care Group in Parliament, bringing the Hospice movement to the attention of all Governments and meeting with people from all over the UK who work in Hospices and Palliative medicine. The Hospice Group is also one of the best attended APPGs in Parliament with many MPs and Peers dedicated to this excellent cause.
My late Mother, Adrianne Uziell-Hamilton, was also deeply committed to the Hospice Movement, so in her blessed memory I decided that this year's charity bike ride would be dedicated to St Gemma's – a hospice which provides such amazing support within the communities I represent, and for which I have the highest respect.
This year, I am riding from London to Amsterdam with my daughter, Ella, and my son Lawrence. The Dutch Ambassador, HE Pim Waldeck, has kindly agreed to see us off from the Embassy in Hyde Park Gate, London, on Thursday 14th July. The ride will take four days and cover approximately 300 miles in all.
