Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Im running 13.1 miles in the Great North Run in memory of my Grandma.
I lost my Grandma (Margery Pearson) to Pancreatic Cancer back in 2006 at the amazing age of 84, although it was a long time ago there isn’t a day go by in which I do not think of her and laugh at the memories we shared.
An inspirational, amazing lady who was known and loved by so many people, she was working and volunteering up to 6 months before she sadly passed away.
Although she was always going to the doctors, it was never for herself, but as a volunteer driver taking elderly people (that seemed to always be younger than her).
Whenever my Grandma felt poorly her medicine was a “drop” of Brandy in her coffee and water with Bicarbonate of Soda, (I can honestly say the latter tasted awful) then it was back to work! So when she began to feel very poorly she ignored it for as long as possible, sadly too long, meaning there was no cure.
We were very lucky to be able to have my Grandma at my Aunties home towards the end this meant we could all be closer to her and continue creating memories. Although it was an extremely sad time in all our lives, we weren’t allowed to cry or look sad at her bedside but to smile, laugh and sing along to her many CD’s.
Please help and support me in raising awareness for Pancreatic Cancer.
