If this year could not get any worse! Back in August Finlay aged 14, was diagnosed with ALL leukaemia. Such a shock for him and the whole family! The LGI Teenage Cancer ward 33 have been amazing, along with fantastic support network within the hospital.
His treatment of chemotherapy & steroids started immediately. The first 6 months of chemo is the most difficult, at times quite intense.
Finlay has endured muscle waste , hair loss, fatigue, sickness, loss and increase of appetite, disrupted sleep patterns restricted joint & muscle movement and quite frequently visiting hospital for blood transfusions.
However, anyone that knows Finlay will know how determined and strong willed he can be! He has remained extremely positive and strong throughout treatment we are so proud of him.
Unfortunately this illness has held him back from doing the things he loves most, Football, boxing, Athletics and trampolining.
Finlay has had a rough 3 months of treatment however, the next few weeks he's on a slightly milder course of treatment where we have seen Finlay regain some of his strength and some of the old Finlay coming back. He will soon be starting a 2 month block of intense treatment again so while he has the strength Finlay decided to do some fundraising!
Finlay’s aim is to raise the awareness of leukaemia in children today, also the importance of remaining mentally & physically strong, Finlay has decide to walk a Marathon (26 mile) in a month! this is quite a challenge given his current condition but I’m sure he’ll smash it!
Any help for this amazing charity will greatly appreciated. xxxxx
