Story

As you may know, Willen Hospice is a very important place to me and my loved ones. When I was only 13 years old my mother went to Willen Hospice after an incredible tough battle with lung cancer. Though her time there was short, we all saw firsthand the incredible care they gave her, they were constantly trying to keep her comfortable. Sadly once my mother had passed, they were there the whole time and gave us the care we really needed aswell. They were so patient and kind, I will always remember the carers there wrapping their arms around me and making me feel safe when my whole world was breaking.

Fast forward to 9 years later, and my Fiances mother went into Willen Hospice as well after a long fight with cancer also. As soon as I walked into the halls in a Willen I began crying my eyes out from the sad memories there, but just like before, the staff knew exactly how to help us all in such a difficult time. I was losing a second mother this time, and the only reason we were able to get through it all was because of the staff at Willen. Everyday their main priority (from the countless amount of other jobs they had to do) was to make sure Amanda was comfortable. The day she passed was so horrible, but the first thing the staff members did was come in to hug us all and let us cry.. They helped us with everything from that point and made our lives so much easier in a time that was so low for us.

Every time I speak to someone who has had a loved one stay at Willen Hospice, they always say the same thing - what an incredible place it is. Not just the care they provide (which is outstanding) but the fact that they are there everyday to support you in whatever way they can - be it a chat or a hug, providing fresh meals everyday for the people there. I even remeber  they would bring wigs in for the patients to try on and they would have the biggest smiles on their faces! Willen does so much to care for their patients and their families, I now want to give back to them. To raise £2,000 minimum so they can continue helping families like mine. People are saying to me "this is going to be so hard, I could never do that, running a marathon is impossible!" To which I always say "if the people at  Willen Hospice can get through what they have to go through everyday, then I can do this. This is easy compared to that." So If you can please donate to this incredible cause, and help me reach my target!
