Story

31 October 2016 update: We have received a vet bill for £2004.23 primarily for Flash's treatment, in addition to the one for £957.51 which was mainly for Angel's care. We have amended the total to reflect both vet bills and take account of a very generous donation of £400 that we received directly from Wags and Bones Staffie Support.

April 2017: We are delighted to update this page with the news that Flash and Angel have been adopted by their new foster family, which means they get to stay with them forever, as part of the family :-). Thank you very much to everyone who has donated. This page will remain open for anyone who would like to contribute to the vet costs accumulated while this gorgeous pair were in foster.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated towards the care of this lovely pair of dogs. They are two of the 39 dogs currently in Oldies Club's care, with more on our waiting list, so if you can make a donation of *any* amount to help boost the amount raised, we would be incredibly grateful.

2 October 2016 update: Flash's operation went well on Friday and he is now back at his lovely foster home with a huge (truly, photo added) bandage on his leg,  bless him, and understandably not thrilled about that. Please keep him in your thoughts as he recovers - and his foster mum who has the job of keeping him calm while he does so!

Angel was given a clean bill of health following her post-op check, which we are all delighted about :-). Thank you so much to everyone who has donated towards their vet bills so far x

Hi, I am Flash (the handsome chap looking at the camera) with my 'sister' Angel. We are a gorgeous pair of sugar-frosted sofa hounds (AKA Staffies), who came into the care of Oldies Club, a volunteer-run charity that rescues and rehomes older dogs in the UK, in August 2016.

Unfortunately after arriving in our lovely Oldies Club foster home, it became apparent that I was struggling with my back leg and not wanting to put weight on it. The vet booked me in for an x-ray as they were concerned I would need an operation. Sadly this was confirmed :-( The vet diagnosed that I have a cranial cruciate left stifle problem and recommended I have a TPLO repair on my leg. My operation is scheduled for Friday 30 September 2016 and the estimate is £2,000! Please would you keep me in your thoughts.

Sadly Angel's vet visit also revealed that she had mammary tumours and a possible tumour on her lungs and in her mouth :-( She had an emergency spay and mastectomy just over a week ago. It was quite a major op and she had to stay overnight at the vet, but is now back at our foster home with me and recovering. The cost of her surgery/vet visits is expected to be in the region of £600-£800.

Oldies Club currently has over 40 dogs in its care and its vet bills are thousands and thousands of pounds each month, even for more 'standard' and expected costs. The charity now has to find a large amount just to cover the treatment for Angel and me, so we have set this fundraising page up, with a starting total of £2,500, which we will amend if necessary, once Oldies Club knows the final costs, in the hope that you wonderful dog lovers out there will contribute and help to cover our bills.

We would be very grateful for any donation that you can spare, of any amount. Please never think what you can offer isn't enough. It all adds up and is very much appreciated by everyone at Oldies Club. Please also share our page with your dog-loving family and friends, in the hope that they will want to help too.

With gratitude,

Flash and Angel - and all the volunteers at Oldies Club, #lifechangers for older dogs in the UK
