The Sky is the limit!
As many of you know, I love a fundraising challenge to raise essential funds for Moorfields Eye Charity. A couple of years ago, I took the plunge and glided to earth, through the air from 15,000 ft reaching over 120mph doing a skydive. This was is an exciting challenge for me so I am taking on the adrenaline rush again!
I have decided to do a wing walk- standing on the outside wing of a plane gliding through the open air, reaching speeds of 140mph.
"Once lined up the pilot will throttle up the engine, release the brakes and you’re off! The propeller biting into the air, the tips travelling faster than the speed of sound, your friends and family will hear the bark of the propeller as you accelerate across the grass. Your adrenaline levels will go off the scale as the aircraft quickly gathers speed on it’s take off run, just a few seconds later you will feel the wheels leave the ground." Wing walk website
I have been a patient at Moorfields Eye Hospital since I was five years old and was inspired by the play specialist at the time, Mary who gave me the support I needed. I am now working as the play specialist at the Richard Desmond Children's Eye Hospital myself and have been for 21 years- I know first hand what great work Moorfields do, and the great care that all staff give their patients.
Please support me all you can as I take on this epic feat- every penny counts and will make a difference to the researchers, staff and patients at Moorfields. Thank you.
