Welcome to my fundraising page - I’m Francis - the reason I’ve created this page is that my good  friend, Nduoma and I will be setting out to climb Ben Nevis (the highest peak in the UK) on Saturday October 9th 2021. We have been friends for two decades. I am a qualified GP and Ndouma is currently in his fourth year of study before qualifying as a dentist.

Together, we are striving to raise money for the Sickle Cell Disease charity. This disease has a profound impact on its victims, many that suffer with this disease experience prolonged hospital stays and unfortunately in several cases early deaths!

Notably, the disease disproportionately affects the Black Afro-Caribbean community. Due to the severity of this disease, it’s vital that people are aware of their sickle cell status in advance of considering whether to have children. Currently, the majority of people in our community are unaware of the significant impact this disease has and we passionately believe in the importance of raising awareness and supporting the Sickle Cell Disease charity. The charity strives to raise awareness, increase funding, promotes research into treatments available for this cohort.

It is fantastic to see the positive difference this charity has been able to make in recent years.
