Friend to many, Fred Bear (AKA Jackson) recently lost his life after battling courageously for many years against his struggles. He was a great man and leaves a poignant and powerful legacy in his wake.
Almost seven years ago Fred and I, along with Ant and Matt, supported by Amy and Simon rode Coast2Coast (Whitehaven to Sunderland) over the course of a weekend. We raised money for the Cheethams Children’s Ward at UHNS (now the Royal Stoke University Hospital). Fred’s was the first name on the sheet and he invested heavily in training, promoting the cause and generally helping to make sure that the event was a success. He approached the event with gusto and as you would expect, he did it all with a touch of class, as was typical of his character. Thanks to him (and the rest of the team) we did it, thanks to the amazing supporters we successfully raised a bunch of much needed cash and we enjoyed it immensely (well mostly).
In April (13th - 14th) we will go again, the original gang are well represented and will be joined by a bunch of others, some of whom had known Fred over the years, some of whom wish simply to get on board and do a good thing.
As with last time the event is being fully funded by the riders and crew, as well as our sponsor Complete ICT who are funding transport. ALL of your donation goes to North Staffs Mind, an organisation who have supported Fred over the years.
Let’s go 🚴♂️
