Story

🙏 Jai Shree Krishna 🙏

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, in memory of Gangaram Daji.

Our beloved, wonderful, kind-hearted hero of a Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Gangaram Daji, passed away peacefully on the 17
th April 2022.

He was a trailblazer amongst his generation and a forward thinking man, years ahead of his time,
who lived a long, happy and fulfilled life until the very end.

He had so many exciting adventures as a young man including travelling to parts of the world by boat on marine adventures, and was a keen body builder as a young man too! He had a wonderful smile and was always so caring towards his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to tell us all stories of his younger years and his time in Fiji, India, South East Asia and beyond.

Throughout his life, he was a very independent man, not wanting to cause anyone any bother at any time and while he was a disciplined man, he was also exceptionally thoughtful, kind, caring and loving.

He was one of the first members of the Shree Rajput Sangathan Samaj to arrive and settle in the UK and was a very well-known and respected member of the community. In his retirement, he loved to go for walks in the park, read newspapers and books at the local library and look after his grandchildren, often walking us to school and helping us with our school homework. He also played an integral part in supporting his nieces and nephews and other wider family members to settle and begin their lives in the UK.

He will be dearly missed by so many family and friends from around the world that he met over the course of his long and adventurous life.

We were fortunate to have had many of his closest family, see him during his last week with us over the recent Easter period and feel extremely blessed to have been able to celebrate a final Diwali, Christmas and New Year celebration with him all together as a family. We invite you to view the gallery on this Justgiving page which includes a small selection of images which look back at his long and happy life.

In honour of his memory, we would like to help raise awareness for
Glaucoma UK. Glaucoma is an eye condition that he had during his later years in life which affected his ability to see clearly.

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, the health of which is vital for good vision. This damage is often caused by an abnormally high pressure in the eye. The charity that we are raising funds for, Glaucoma UK, campaign to raise awareness so glaucoma is detected early and can be treated, the charity supports people to live well with glaucoma and they fund sight saving research.

We would be honoured if you would be able to donate to this cause in memory of our Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Gangaram Daji, so that he can leave a legacy to support others who are diagnosed with Glaucoma in the future.

Thank you from all of his Children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and the whole Daji Family.
