Story
When I had my heart attack at the age of 45 my first thoughts were that I was going to die. I was one of the lucky ones who, at least for the moment had given the Grim Reaper the brush off. The saddest thing for me is apart from swallowing a bucket load of pills every day, it’s hard not be to reminded that I have suddenly changed from a ‘normal’ healthy person to someone who is deemed to have a heart problem.
I received a clear warning so I have got back on my feet and have been determined to change my life. I have become more active, eating healthily and lost over 3½ stone in weight. I now have a pretty normal life, the only difference from my pre heart attack era, is that I need a little reassurance now and then that I am really OK!
I want to give a little back for all the help I have been given, so on the 21st June I am taking part in the London to Brighton bike ride. I am using this challenge as a positive opportunity to raise money for the British Heat Foundation as I know the valuable work they have been doing for people who have been through what I’ve been through. If it wasn’t for their work, the people at Kings College Hospital and Dr Hill, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing and I wouldn’t be here.
I hope this challenge will provide some inspiration or, at the very least will give you some amusement in seeing me in attempt to cycle 54 miles from City to Sea in lycra!!
Your support in helping me attempt to achieve my target would be hugely appreciated, it’s such a worthy cause. Please help me to help the BHF mend broken hearts.
I would like to personally thank all my family and friends who have not only been there for me but also supported Jen and the girls.
Thank you
