23rd of August 2021
We were excited to get to see our baby boy at our 20 week scan then the words came that you never want to hear..I’m so sorry there’s no heart beat. From that moment on the support and help we received from the Princess Anne really made the most difficult time just that little bit easier to get through. The next steps of our loss was explained to us with the upmost care, support and empathy.
We were looked after by an incredible nurse called Gemma. She explained everything to us, what to expect. Took time to talk with us to help prepare and what we could do for Koen once he arrived. We were given time to spend with Koen-Lee. In that time we had a naming ceremony and a blessing by the hospital Chaplain Sue. Her gentleness, kindness and interest in us and Koen was comforting. The hospital provided us with leaflets for continued support to help us when we were back home.
We spent 9 hours with our boy. The thought of leaving him was unbearable. One of the amazing things the hospital charity does is to provide a funeral service at no cost. Everything is covered by the charity. We had as much input in the service as we liked. To be able to honour Koen the way we did is something we will be eternally grateful for. So I am going to be jumping out of a plane at 15000ft 😳 on the 30/04/2022 to raise as much money as possible because the only way the hospital can continue to provide this is through donations to the charity. With your help we can support the charity and other family’s who have to go through this heartbreak.
