Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our local village shopkeeper Gary Pilsworth was the pillar of our community for nearly 18 years. Nothing was ever too much trouble. He served in the shop and post office come rain or shine, always with a smile, a twinkle and a joke or 5 without a holiday for many many years. No one knew Gary had a brain tumour (including Gary) until late 2018. After a very short battle, he passed away at home on 12th February 2019 aged 65. The hospice supported Gary and his family over his last few weeks to make sure he was comfortable at home and so when we first heard of this event soon after Gary died, we thought it would be very fitting to run in his memory, starting and finishing from the village he called home for many years

It will be Dean, Stanley (aged 11), Billy and Laura’s first running event so we appreciate your support hugely.
