We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

I’m taking part in Football to Amsterdam, a two day, 145-mile bike ride to the Dutch capital. We’ll be putting football rivalries aside to tackle prostate cancer once and for all. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It’s a disease which kills one man every 45 minutes – that’s two men during a football match. But Prostate Cancer UK know that we can turn it around. Their aim is to make this a disease the next generation need not fear.

This is personal to me because I lost my only brother-in-law, Steve Andrews, to the disease last year.  Steve was a hard working, loyal, unassuming family man who liked to enjoy life having a passion for motor cycles and the great outdoors, walking, hiking and climbing.  He served his country in the Royal Navy before settling down to work for BT.  Taken from us far too soon a week after his 57th Birthday but always fondly remembered.  The last words he ever said to me were "Come On You Spurs" as I went off to watch us thrash Millwall 6-0 in the FA Cup.  So F2A seems completely appropriate!  In memory of Steve.
