This October, Gemma and Jessica are running to raise money for Mind, a charity who provide advice and support for people suffering with mental health problems. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health issues, and empower people to understand their condition and make them aware of the help available to them. The charity’s president is Stephen Fry, who is a tireless campaigner, supporter and advocate for people experiencing mental health problems. 

Additionally, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have recently spearheaded the Heads Together campaign which aims to change the national conversation on mental health, meaning the subject is being discussed more than it ever has, which can only be a good thing since one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem at some point in their life. Running, and exercise in general, is proven to help manage depression, so it seemed appropriate to run for such a great cause.

A bit about us .... Jess ran her first half marathon in 2015 and absolutely smashed it, and is well on her way to a PB this year. Gemma’s first event was the Coventry Lady Godiva Half Marathon back in 2007 and despite swearing never to do it again she’s taken part in six more half marathons since then. So we’re no strangers to the pain!
