We improve the lives of those with DMD to ensure those lives are no longer limited

Story

Thank you so much for visiting my Just Giving Page! I'm running my first ever marathon for Action Duchenne. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a progressive condition diagnosed in childhood. It causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. Duchenne muscular dystrophy affects around 2,500 people in the UK – the vast majority being male.

My brother Harry, was diagnosed with DMD at the age of four. As a family, we've seen the effects that Duchenne. However, Harry never let this hold him back, always happy and mischievous, always taking the fight to Duchenne.

In 2020, Harry lost his battle to Duchenne. That day I not only lost my brother, but my best friend. My world felt like it had completely stopped. Harry is my biggest inspiration, he's inspired me to do this marathon and if I can take a smidge of his courage and determination i'm sure it'll get me through it!

Please donate as little or as much as you can to support this charity... and also to motivate me on those long and lonely runs! I don't think I realised just how tough training to run a marathon would be...I really appreciate everyone's support.

George.
