Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
We are running the BUPA 10K in Manchester on 17th May to raise funds for the road safety charity, Brake who have been immensely supportive following our son George's death. He was killed aged 17 whilst crossing a road at traffic lights on October 10th 2008. Our lives are devastated, we will never get over our incredible loss but we are trying to learn to live with it, and doing something positive is helping us to do that. We are actively campaigning (www.windleislandcampaign.org.uk) for controlled pedestrian crossings at the junction where he died in addition to lowering the speed limit. 9 people per day die on our roads and of those, 7 are aged between 14 and 19 - these are the vulnerable youth who have so much to give and live for. Brake is aiming to making us all more aware of the dangers to teenagers on our roads and increase the information available to schools and colleges. They also offer bereavement counselling to families such as ours, affected by road deaths. The funds raised by our run will make their task a bit easier and hopefully prevent more families from going through what we are suffering - we want to save the life of your son or daughter, brother or sister as well as keeping the memory of our beautiful son alive.
Thank you for your support.
