In March 2019, after finding out we were expecting our second child, our world was turned upside down after the baby was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition known as Edwards syndrome. This condition causes a range of serious medical problems, sadly resulting in most babies dying before or shortly after birth. It has been such a shock and the hardest months of our lives after realising what this diagnosis meant for our unborn son and for us as a family. There is no cure for Edwards syndrome which has been and still is hard to accept as we do not know how much time we will have with our son.

Throughout my pregnancy we have received lots of support from the wonderful staff at Rainbows. Rainbows is a hospice dedicated to providing palliative care to children and young people, and offering support for their families when faced with life limiting conditions. Rainbows provides amazing facilities to make and create treasured moments in the most unbearable situations, where families are able to make special memories together. 

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant, and if our son continues to fight and survive through me being in labour, Rainbows is a place we would like to take him to be cared for and so we can make life long memories with him. Because of this we would like to raise money so that Rainbows can keep doing the amazing things they do and so other children and families in similar situations to us can benefit from the wonderful things they have to offer. 

So on September 29th, my partner Brandon is running the Robin Hood half marathon in order to raise money for Rainbows. Rainbows depend mainly on donations so any amount donated would be greatly appreciated.
