Story
Over the years I have always asked for your help to raise money for amazing causes while I do some athletic endeavour, which I have neither trained enough nor prepared properly for, in a hope that the pictures of my struggle through the event will give you a smile while you donate. My friends, family and even strangers have helped me raise millions for amazing causes.
As a cancer survivor, and someone who lost their mother a few months ago to the wretched disease, it was obvious which cause I should raise money for in the UK.
The last time I asked for your support was 2015, when you pushed me through Ironman Lake Placid. Despite dislocating my patella eight days before the race I limped through to the finish line because I could not let you down after your amazing generosity to the hospital that patched me back together, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
So what am I doing this year that’s different from other years as a fund raiser … Is it a marathon ?? Is it another Ironman?
Nope, it’s a stupid midlife crisis!
On August 26th I will be racing in Haute Route Alps, which is a grueling 7-day bicycle race, through the French Alps covering 800km and climbing over 20,000 meters.
To give you a better idea on how tough the climbing will be, it’s the same as cycling vertically up the Empire State Building 55 times!!!
