I’m trying to help raise a staggering £250,000 in order to save the life of a brave little boy called Jamie Inglis.  Jamie is four years old and is the son of a serving soldier with the British Army.  

Jamie was diagnosed with an abdominal tumour in April of this year and after extensive tests Jamie was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4, where it was found that it was MYCN amplified (Aggressive) and the cancer had infiltrated his bone marrow too.

Even though Jamie has responded well to the initial treatment the chances of his cancer relapsing over the next year is very high.  The relapse is normally caused by microscopic cells which have survived the chemo and it’s referred to as minimal residual disease (MRD).  Unfortunately when the child relapses the prognosis is reduced significantly and the chance of a cure is very small.

A recent antibody trial in the States has been very successful as it targets the MRD and improves the chances of survival by 20%. This treatment may well become a standard regime in the future, however, Jamie does not have time as he will require this treatment within 90 days of completing his high dose which he is due to complete by Feb 2010.

I would like to say that I have loads of events planned and in the pipeline to raise the money, but to be truthful I only found out about their plight yesterday and I thought it was more important to get this message to you.
