My Uncle, Paul Caruana's, career as a dentist and Oral Surgeon was cut short in his 30's after being diagnosed with MS. I was certainly partially inspired by Paul in  my choice of a career as a dentist. Whilst growing up my family holidays to Gibraltar and Spain were punctuated by visits to see Paul and over time I saw the inevitable changes and deterioration that were caused by MS.

I took up running in my 30's and running a Marathon has  been on my radar since then. When the opportunity arose I knew that the charity I would run for would be one that helped in the struggle to fight this debilitating and cruel disease.

At the age of 45 this may well be my first and last Marathon but this seemed like the moment to remember and honor Paul who sadly passed away prematurely as a result of MS nearly 6 years ago at the age of 61.
