Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In July 2011, I set my first Guinness World Record for cycling across Europe from the southernmost point (Tarifa, Spain) to the northernmost point (North Cape, Norway).
The following year I cycled across the USA from North to South (Canada to Mexico) and then West to East (LA to New York) setting my second Guinness World Record.
My upcoming challenge for this year is to set a new world record for the most countries visited in 7 days by bicycle.
However, my biggest dream has always been to circumnavigate the world by bicycle and next year I hope to make this dream come true. I will compete in the second World Cycle Race where international cyclists will race each other for 18,000 miles around the globe.
My journey begins on 22nd March 2013 from London, UK where I will head east across 4 continents.
You can follow my progress for all my adventures by searching for Glen Burmeister :: Adventurer on Facebook.
Through JustGiving, I aim to raise as much money as possible for the charity MIND.
One in four of us will have some sort of mental health problem in our life. This means there are millions of people in Britain who are either encountering problems themselves or know someone else who is experiencing them. Mental health issues are wide ranging and include; anxiety, bereavement, loneliness, post-natal depression, stress, suicidal feelings, depression, schizophrenia, etc.
MIND is the leading mental health charity for England and Wales. They campaign vigourously to create a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all - a society where people with experience of mental distress are treated fairly, positively and with respect. Please take a look at there website http://www.mind.org.uk/, for more information. You can also watch a short film at www.mind.org.uk/thisismind, to learn how MIND are making a real difference to real people.
