Story
In 2020 I will be running the Virgin London Marathon to raise some of the £5 million that Cornwall Hospice need each year to provide vital specialist 24/7 palliative care for the people of Cornwall. Cornwall Hospice rely heavily on donations to continue their work and so any contribution makes a difference.
This is a huge challenge for me, I was a newbie to running up until 18 months ago, having been persuaded by a friend to take part in the Heartlands Parkrun last year. Eventually our times started to improve and after some deliberation, we decided to sign up to the Plymouth Half Marathon in 2019. I was delighted to get around in the modest time of 2 hours 30 minutes, as i was looking to complete rather than compete.
Having a taste of the emotions of the day, the supportive crowd and the comradery among the competitors ( having run a few miles with a hot dog and being overtaken by a storm trouper), I was keep to tackle the streets of London, having watched for many years the big one on the TV thinking "I should apply for that one day" . I'm extremely excited about the prospect of running 26.2 miles around our nation's capital city, raising a substantial amount of money for a local Cornish charity, and hopefully inspiring a few people along the way.
