Story
Up to 1,000 people in the UK die from the condition every year.
Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) refers to the death of someone with epilepsy, who was otherwise healthy. It often happens when asleep.
This was the case for my very good friend 26-year-old Toby Rickard-Elliott. He died in his sleep in November 2009, completely unaware he had the condition.
I am once again raising money for Epilepsy Research UK in his memory, and my next challenge is the Great North Run.
Pounding the streets for 13 miles on a Sunday morning is a small price to pay if I can help fund vital research, and raise awareness of this condition.
If I can stop just one person going through the same as what Toby did, and the heartache his family and friends have been faced with ever since his death, it’ll all be worthwhile.
Dig deep people and thank you!
