Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is raising funds to secure the future of Gun Moor for the wildlife and people of Staffordshire.
Please help us to raise £150,000 to buy the freehold and protect this well loved local landmark forever.
Gun Moor, at the top of Gun Hill overlooking Leek in North Staffordshire is gem of a site that thankfully does not achieve the same tourist attention as the nearby Roaches.
Wildlife monitoring records show that Gun Moor is already home to many species including snipe and curlew which are on the brink of localised extinction.
When Gun Moor came to the market in 2018 Staffordshire Wildlife Trust was very keen to secure the site as it fits in very well with our plans to increase the area of land being managed in a way that is beneficial to wildlife.
We needed to act fast, but didn't have the funds to buy the site ourselves and so entered into an agreement with the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. The Foundation was able to step in and purchase the land themselves with a "buy back" agreement giving Staffordshire Wildlife Trust two years to raise the funds needed to buy the land back at the original price. If we can't raise the funds the land may go back on the open market.
Please make a donation so Gun Moor can be protected for wildlife and people forever.
