We provide support and information to help people live life with MS

Story

Well, with help from TIm, Stina & Lyn, we DID IT!!!

Through gale force winds & heavy rain, we managed to complete the plan (shown below) in 8hrs & 16mins, clocking up a distance of 14.72 miles! I'll be keeping the page open for a while & should be able to confirm the total raised after my 2 week break!

Please don't let the fact that we have made the target put you off from donating to this personal cause. EVERY penny will help secure services for other people with MS!!! - Thank you for all your support! :)

(Original Story)
The planned route will be, starting from St Barrwg's Church in Bedwas, walk up Mountain Rd to the top of Mynydd y Grug, behind the colliery waste tips & along the Sirhowy Valley Country Path to the Machen Mast, then behind Machen Quarry, descending down into Lower Machen. Then I'll head across the field to the Iron Bridge & behind the Ruppera Graig, passed the castle &  to the Maenllywd Inn, Rudry. Once there, it will be up to the Ridgeway Path & along to Caerphilly Mountain. My tracking app has given me a distance of 14.5 miles for the route.

Why? Well............In May 2011, just 3 weeks into a new job, I suddenly lost vision in my left eye. After 9mths of testing, I was sent for an MRI scan.

When the results came in, I was informed I was being transferred to my local Neurology team. At my 1st appt with Neurology, I was shown my MRI Scan & told I had MS.

The progression of my condition has been slow, but I have had some minor relapses & struggled with fatigue. I've also had a slow, but increasing loss of sensation in my left leg & arm.

To combat the fatigue, I took up Cross Country Walking as I am surrounded by mountains where I live, but it occurred to me I had never explored most of them, and wanted to put that right.

In the summer just gone, I suffered my worse relapse to date, which lasted 8 weeks, and took even longer to recover from.

I still count myself as lucky as compared to many, my symptoms aren't life changing.

To fight back from the relapse, I decided I wanted to try my most ambitious hike to date, & if I can raise some money to support services offered to others with MS, then its got to be a good things right?
