Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Georgios Vrakas and Gillian Roberts from the Oxford Transplant Centre will be climbing Kilimanjaro in Oct 17.  They are part of a team taking up this challenge in aid of the Steve Prescott Foundation. It will be one of the hardest physical and mental challenges of their lives and not only will they be climbing the highest free-standing mountain in Africa but they will also be contributing to the world record breaking attempt to play the highest ever football match!  As if these weren't challenges enough, they have a fundraising target of £10,000 to reach,

Steve Prescott was a professional rugby league player and the Foundation was set up in 2007 after he was diagnosed with a rare abdominal cancer (Pseudomyxoma Peritonei).  He underwent pioneering multi-visceral transplant surgery in 2013 but tragically passed away 3 weeks later as a result of complications.  A result of this pioneering surgery has meant that more people have been able to have the same operation and now have a much improved quality of life. The Steve Prescott Foundation supports the Oxford Transplant Centre and place great importance on our research and the care we give to transplant patients.

Please support our fund-raising efforts by donating as much as you can.
