Story
Thank you for visiting our page and supporting Hackney Woodcraft Folk!
On Thursday June 16th, young people from Woodcraft Folk groups all around Hackney will come together for a mass litter pick around the Woodberry Wetlands area. The Wetlands themselves are a beautiful haven for wildlife and visitors. But on the New River paths and green areas nearby, litter is a major problem. We are going to tackle this, while also fundraising for a great cause.
We’re raising money towards the cost of the international Woodcraft camp taking place in Germany this summer. The money will help young people in Hackney and around the world to attend the camp. People going from the UK pay more than those from countries with developing economies, so by supporting our young campers we’re also supporting
young people around the world who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend.
The whole of Hackney District to benefit from sending a Hackney delegation to the camp by:
- helping the district make international links (Hackney will be sharing a village with Germans and Peruvians!)
- allowing other children and young people in the district to communicate and send gifts to young people from other countries
- facilitating the young people attending to learn new skills and be exposed to new ideas and ways of organising which they will hopefully share with the rest of the district.
Thank you again for your support, it is much appreciated!
