UPDATE: SUCCESSFULLY REACHED SUMMIT OF MT. KILIMANJARO at 9.30am on Sunday 6th October. Pictures on Facebook, will try to post some on JustGiving page too. Thank you very much for your support - this page will be open until 7 January 2014.
I've done a pretty stupid thing and booked an impulse trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro; the highest point in Africa. To put this in context, Kili is almost 2/3 the size of Mount Everest and its peak is higher than Everest base camp. So altitude sickness is probably the biggest threat to my summit attempt.
In climbing Kili, I hope to raise as much money as possible for Azmat Welfare Foundation; the charity of which I am a trustee. Azmat provides much needed quality healthcare in a rural area of Pakistan (Sukho, Gujar Khan) and relies on public donations from good people like yourselves. More info on the charity can be found on the Facebook page or website.
I've set an optimistically high and specific target of £5,895 - the height of Kilimanjaro's peak (in metres)! I'll be ecstatic if I can get somewhere close to that target - even a little of your support can go a long way. Including helping me push through the altitude sickness.
