We create cinemas in hospitals to support patients on the road to recovery

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

16 men in nurses uniform rowing 22 miles in a Viking longboat - what's not to like? If the Great River Race (www.greatriverrace.co.uk) is the rowing equivalent of the London marathon our crew is the man in the deep sea diving suit. No training, no idea and all for charity - dig deep folks this is going to hurt us much more than you!

MediCinema (www.medicinema.org.uk)  is the charity that installs purpose-built cinemas in hospitals. Any of us at any time can find ourselves in hospital for any number of reasons - the beauty of MediCinema is that it gives patients and their visitors the opportunity to escape the ward for a couple of hours and enjoy the "magic of the movies".

Crew member and patron, Jerome Blake has participated in fund-raising events for the charity during the last six years but has also first hand experience of the benefits of MediCinema as a result of being treated for stomach cancer at St Thomas's Hospital in London - the site of the first MediCinema.

Your contribution is much appreciated and will help towards the costs of operating MediCinemas around the UK.

Thank you

Through the latest and best the film industry has to offer, MediCinema utilises the power of cinema to enable patients, many of whom will be experiencing complex and long term hospital stays, to experience some sense of normality and reduce both the isolation and marginalisation they may be feeling.
