Story

One middle-aged, unfit man on a borrowed bike and another middle-aged, semi-fit man on his own bike are attempting a 350 mile cycle ride from Birmingham to Land’s End. They have a combined age of 91 and
haven’t ridden a bike since they were kids. What could possibly go wrong?

“When you thought driving to Devon was long, try cycling! As a student, to hear that two teachers have volunteered to take on the challenge of cycling from school to Land’s End after a long school year, is phenomenal! That’s almost 350 miles in just over four days. To know that it’s for such a good cause, which is increasingly relevant, made me want to emphasise and give credit to their ambition. Mental health is one of the biggest killers of this decade and supporting mental health charities is therefore very important. The charity Mr Hampshire and Mr Hulse are supporting is CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). They have taken time to attempt an extraordinary act of kindness which is close to their heart. It would be a great help if you could donate to this worthwhile cause as they would really appreciate it. A Just Giving page has been set up to raise as much money for CALM as possible".
