Hannah and Tyler's Shark Dive
Fundraising for Action Duchenne
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We are going to take part in a charity organised event of a shark dive on the 19th of November 2017 to raise money for Action Duchenne.
Harry, Hannah's younger brother was diagnosed with the condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2008, aged just 5 years old. Duchenne is life limiting, a muscle wasting disease from which there is no cure. He currently uses a manual wheelchair when he gets tired but unfortunately his condition will only deteriorate over the next few years and he will need the use of an electric wheelchair full-time.
We would like to raise as much money as we can for Action Duchenne in order for them to carry on with their research looking for cures for muscle wasting diseases. In order to do this, they need more progress so that the best possible treatments/therapeutic interventions can be made available as quickly as possible to everyone living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, in the hope that one day it might benefit Harry.
Action Duchenne currently work with various national and international communities across the world who work together as a world-wide duchenne community in a fight to find a cure for duchenne.
We wanted to find something that would be a huge challenge and push us both. As two people with a massive fear of sharks, we have decided a shark dive is definitely it! The shark encounter is an up close experience as we will be diving freely with no cage. We will be coming face to face with the ocean’s most feared predators at Britain's biggest aquarium Blue Planet, a collection of 10ft sand tiger sharks, shoals of jacks, grunts and snappers along with stingrays, nurse sharks, sand tiger sharks and lemon sharks.
