Story

Two and a half years ago I was competing my Horse Beau in a British Eventing competition.  Towards the end of the competition we had a rotational fall whilst jumping a solid fence. Luckily Beau walked away from this uninjured but it wasn’t the same for me! ........
I sustained three bleeds to the brain, fractured vertebrae and suffered a seizure on site. The Doctor onsite realised how serious my injuries were and called the Air Ambulance which arrived within 15 minutes, the Consultant from the Helicopter put me in a chemically induced coma to limit further damage to my Brain. It would have taken over 1 hour and a half to reach the nearest hospital by road but thanks to the air ambulance they got me there in 15 minutes.

In hospital I remained in a coma for four days and in critical care for over a week.  At this point the Doctors were unsure of the extent of the damage and the long term implications. When I was brought out of the coma I was paralysed down my right hand side. I was unable to walk, write, talk or eat properly.  I also struggled to remember where I was and who people were.  After a month I left hospital and very slowly, with help I learned ways to start remembering things again, I slowly began to walk independently, improve my speach, and much more.  Although it has been and still is a long recovery, I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the amazing Air Ambulance service, they really did save my life.
Wales Air Ambulance rely entirely on the public’s support to help keep the helicopters flying. The charity does not receive any funding from the government, so please help them out and give as much as you can.  Im not the best runner but I am running the Great Manchester 10k with friends in the hope people will kindly donate money for the Air Ambulance Service.
