We use music, clowning, magic and dance to give the gift of laughter to lonely kids

Story

"Laugh & Play India 2016. Get ready for a super charged season of love and play as we hit the dusty Indian roads with our laughter squad."

In March 2016 I will be volunteering with The Flying Seagull Project for the final third of their 3-month visit to North India!

The Seagulls will be working with disadvantaged and impoverished communities in the five regions in the north of the country.

And I will be a gypsy clown once more performing in circus shows and running workshops in music, dance and circus skills with alongside the other volunteers around the city of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) spreading joy and laughter to as many corners as we can!

"The chemical mix is a powerful one of Norwegian folk music, Dutch movement, Australian foolery and old English clowning and will engage all in its path."

" Aside from its exotic appeal India has some extremely deep social problems and children are not spared from the suffering. There is an estimated 20 million orphans, and almost ten million who live on the streets. They have a harsh and brutal existence facing adult pressures and often workloads that we would struggle to complete."

"To Laugh is the manifestation of truly positive feelings: relaxation, confidence, safety and happiness. That is at the best of out project andwe aim, with your help, to reach out and share laughter with more than 8000 of India's lonely children in the time we are there."

I will be funding my flights, visa, vaccinations and insurance myself and through kind family donations and also; I need to raise  £500 for the charity. And I need your help!

  • I will be selling my own art work and all money made from my prints will go to this cause - so maybe lots of people will be receiving art this Christmas!
  • The Indian Winter Art Fair at Moosey Gallery/Alley Cafe in Norwich will be on Saturday 6th February and money raised from artists hiring spaces and the selling of delicious baked goods will go towards the £500.
  • For now, please feel free to kindly donate whatever you can to help this wonderful cause!

To get more of an idea of what I will be up to in India, please take a look at the photos uploaded on this page from previous years volunteering with the Seagulls (namely in Eastern Romania).

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page :)

About the charity

We believe that it is everyone’s right to put aside the cares of life and smile for a while. We work with marginalised groups to bring smiles and laughter, whether as Clown Doctors for children undergoing difficult medical treatments or through arts, music and crafts workshops and shows.
