In memory of Harry & Grace Hitchens
We provide family-led care and support to children with life-limiting conditions

Story

Brother and sister, Harry and Grace Hitchens both suffered
from a rare and life limiting condition, Niemann Pick Type C. Both Harry and Grace, and the wider family received wonderful support from Martin House throughout their short lives.

Martin House supports children and young people with
life-limiting conditions, and their families, across West, North and East Yorkshire.  Their vision is that every child and young person has access to palliative care when and where they need it.

Last summer we started our Leeds to Paris bike ride challenge – a 500 mile virtual bike ride in aid of Martin House and in memory
of Harry & Grace. Unfortunately we hit a bump in the road and our bike has been out of action for the last few months, HOWEVER – this cause is so important to us that we can’t leave our slog unfinished. So, we’re hopping off and walking the rest of the way!

We’ve already made it the 195 miles to London town, where
we’ve been stopped off for a brew and a rest before we abandon the bike, lace up our walking boots and hike the rest of the way! Between us the Talent Team will be totting up the remaining 305 miles on foot and tracking it all on Strava.

We’re not sure how long it will take us but we are
determined to do this for Harry & Grace and Martin House – a cause very close to all of our hearts.

It will be a big ask but if we make it all the way to Paris
before May our challenge will then to be to walk all the way home – May is national walking month after all!
