Story

Hello all.

I am fundraising for a charity that very few people know about, and very few people are aware of. It is Verity - Polycystic ovarian syndrome, a syndrome that affects 5-10% of women in the world, and is one of the leading causes of infertility in the world. It affects women in incredible ways from infertility to weight gain and if the condition is left untreated it can lead to type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance, heart disease and endometrial cancer. It is a disorder of hormones. It not only damages self esteem but also affects everyone around you. I am personally a sufferer of PCOS. I am trying to raise awareness and to help donate to a charity which is in desperate need of some support. It's extremely surprising to know that very few are aware of PCOS when so many people have it, and that verity is the only known registered charity in the UK which only raised £40,000 last year from membership funds. It is important to me and so many others in the world. There is no cure for this syndrome, which is awful to know. Currently it is only manageable, therefore more funding for research to find a cure is needed to give women who suffer from PCOS a fresh start.

Please take the time to look into this charity and how fantastic it really is, if you know anyone or if you do suffer from PCOS, then please donate to someone who can help. Dig deep, every little counts. Thank you!

About the charity

Verity is a self help group set up in 1997 to help women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The charity is completely self funded and is the only national charity for women with PCOS. PCOS affects millions of women in the UK and worldwide (approximately 5-10 per cent) .
