Story

Dear friends,

I am hoping to complete my first London Marathon on 25th April. After the fantastic experience I had running NY Marathon last November I thought I had to look for new sport challenges as soon as I could. Thanks to my friend Rafa Gil-Alberdi I have got a slot to participate in this major sport and social event in the city of . It was an immense personal satisfaction to finish NY Marathon in a good shape so this time I would like to enhance the personal achievement by raising funds for a charity organization.

I will be running in aid of Miracles (http://www.miraclesthecharity.org) where Silvia, Rafa’s wife, and some other people are doing a fantastic job in the U.K and in some other areas in by helping the most unprivileged people, with a particular emphasis on children.

I will target a finishing time of three and a half hours to run the 26.2 miles although my aim, once again, will be to finish this safe and sound.

Many, many thanks for your support in my name and on behalf of Miracles.

Héctor

Queridos amigos,

Miracles is a UK children’s charity supporting families living in poverty and helping them through crisis situations such as serious illness. We work with referral agencies such as children's hospitals (Great Ormond Street, Royal Marsden and the Homerton), charities like CLIC Sargent, social workers, schools, Citizens Advice and women’s refuges. We offer a 24-hour rapid response so that our support is there when families need it – when it can really make a difference. We offer three support programmes: - Crisis funding – 24-hour turnaround – practical and rapid support for families who have no one else to turn to. Mainly for families with children in hospital – we help with travel, accommodation, washing machines, fridges, cookers, bedding and everything else to help get them through the crises and out the other side. - Respite breaks – for families with children recovering from or undergoing treatment for serious illness. A break can make all the difference in recovery helping to bring the family back together after a traumatic prognoses and long treatment regime. - Feed London – our response to the crippling food poverty crises in London – we delivering essential food boxes stuffed with enough ingredients for 6+ meals, recipes, supermarket vouchers and creative kits for children – all at the start of the school holidays when hunger is at its worst.
