As the Malawi coordinator for The No Barriers Foundation, I will be running the Manchester Great Run as part of the Foundation's Malawi fundraising.

Every penny raised from this run will go towards supporting Colourful Dreams School in Chisigele village, Mangochi, Malawi.

Colourful Dreams School was set up by Thom Symon, a talented Malawian artist who has built the school single-handedly by selling his art work. It provides education for 100 children in Chisigele village who wouldn't otherwise have access to primary education. The school has two classrooms and three classes, one of which is taught under a tree next to the school.

Thom's next aim is to build a third classroom which will cost £5000. The Foundation has various fundraising plans in action designed to help Thom reach this target. One of them is an art project, whereby the art work of the students at Colourful Dreams School will be exhibited and auctioned in Manchester. Another is running the Manchester Great Run on the 20th May!

I had the pleasure of spending time with Thom during my year in Malawi. He is truly inspiring and has done so much for Chisigele village - your support would mean the world to him and his students.
