Story
I'm so happy to be be running and fundraising for Anthony Nolan. I applied to run for this amazing charity to show my support to friends who have lost their loved ones to blood cancer.
For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Anthony Nolan make the life saving connections between people with blood cancer and strangers ready to donate their stem cells.
It costs £40 to add each new potential donor to the stem cell register. Every new person on the register means another chance for someone to find their lifesaving match.
This marathon is going to be a huge personal challenge for me. Following the birth of my (now 6 year old) daughter I developed hypothyroidism which pretty much means I live in constant state of exhaustion and a workout often leaves me with adrenal fatigue.
In my 20s, I loved running (I've run four marathons previously, the last being in 2011), I've always talked about doing a 5th (and final) marathon and this year decided to finally give it another go. The extra years and exhaustion are showing - training has been hard. BUT - I will give it my best shot for this wonderful cause, and should find myself crawling across the finishing line on my hands and knees 9 hours later, I'll be ecstatic to have raised money for a charity that does such incredible work.
