Once I decided to undertake this incredible challenge, my next thought was to ask myself how I could broaden my motivation and dedication and include a truly worthwhile cause to lend my support and efforts to so that besides my own personal achievement, I would also be doing something for the proverbial ‘greater good’. As it turns out, I didn’t need to look very far so, I will also be running for the Make A Wish Foundation, our Park Resorts chosen charity.Having ran 19 miles I'm now in my final part of training and it has just started to hit home that I will be running 26.2 miles! Having only run a couple of half-marathons previously, I’m now starting to wonder if I am slightly insane to have undertaken this challenge at all but when I think of the Make a Wish foundation and all the children and families that it helps, it makes the doubts, aching legs, and hard work, (not to mention significantly less nights out, romantic evenings with a foam roller, and draconian healthy eating habits) just that more bearable.
As you all know, Make a Wish are an extremely worthwhile and well deserving organisation that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. A wish allows a seriously-ill child and their family to spend precious time together, creating memories to treasure forever – whatever the future may hold.So I figure, since I’m doing my part in training, running, sacrificing nights out and most importantly, Cadbury Cream Eggs, I would ask if you could reach into your hearts and debit cards, to sponsor me on this journey to help Make a Wish bring some joy and precious moments to children in the marathon of their own lives.
