Story
My Name is Henry Fraser, I live in Hertfordshire.
Whilst on holiday with friends in June 2009, I ran into the sea, dived into the surf and damaged my spinal cord leaving me unable to move my arms and legs.
I remember lying in my hospital bed 8 years ago unable to move anything from the neck down and my parents saying, "imagine what medical science can do in 10-15 years".
- There are an estimated 40,000 people in the UK living with a spinal cord injury.
- Every 8 hours, someone's life in the UK will change forever because of being spinal cord injured.
Stem cells offer the greatest potential in any area of medicine to treat some of humanity's most devastating and debilitating conditions. These include: Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, heart attack, Diabetes, Blindness, Multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, Stroke, organ transplantation, Arthritis and Osteoporosis, bone tendon and cartilage damage and sports injuries.
"It's never been a more exciting time for stem cell research" Sir Richard Sykes
The UK Stem Cell Foundation is the only UK charity focused on funding stem cell research. It is home to some of the world's leading experts in this field, who are working hard to develop treatments which will benefit billions of people around the world.
On Wednesday 11th April we will be holding our 3rd Henry Fraser golf day at West Herts Golf Club, with all proceeds going to this very worthy charity. With the help of our friends, and benevolent supporters from a variety of industries we raise in excess of 20K on the day, this year we have a goal of 25K.
Your kind donation is very much appreciated, you will know that you are helping to develop the most promising area of medical research today, that will have a lasting impact for generations to come. You can help to make a difference to to the lives of millions of people who are affected by such devastating conditions.
In 2017 I was invited to become an ambassador for the UK Stem Cell Foundation I was extremely proud to accept. Whether it be current or future generations that are saved from experiencing such trauma, we can change it! Like many I am excited to see what the future holds.
Henry Fraser
