From September 2010 we are volunteering for VSO at Abi Adi College of Teacher Education in northern Ethiopia. Dhamayanthi is working as In-Service Teacher Trainer and Special Education Needs/Inclusion Advisor. Gareth is working in English Language Teacher Training. We plan on being there for one year and are looking forward to the whole experience. 

VSO are paying for the whole project - from training and preparations in the UK, to getting us there and our living expenses while there. It's obviously a very expensive thing - apparently it costs VSO up to £20,000 per volunteer. There are no actual costs to the volunteer, but we have been asked to raise £900 each as a contribution to support VSO's ongoing work to support future volunteers like us. All money raised will go directly to VSO to help their work - of which our project is only one small example...
