Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
When Derek Heritage 51 sent an e-mail to his much older brother Ian 56 with the simple question “ Do you fancy doing this before we get too old “ Followed by a link to a Cycling trip taken from Lands End to John O’Groats .The reply was an instant yes, thus proving a genetic link to insanity. The pair has since been in very part time training and will be ready to go on 20th September 2009.
The bothers intend to cycle for approximately 60 to 70 miles per day and will spend their nights in either a campsite or youth hostel. Obviously having spent the evening in a nearby pub.
Ian and Derek will meet all their own expenses and every penny donated will go direct to charity.
There was no problem deciding which charity to support BLESMA (British Limbless Ex Service Men’s Association). Ian’s son Neil who lost both his legs in action in Iraq on 7th November 2004 inspired the choice. The family are all to aware of the ongoing support needed by the ever-increasing number of soldiers returning home with similar injuries. They are also aware of the excellent work carried out by BLESMA in providing help and support to our injured soldiers.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association (Blesma) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
