South Coast Mighty Hike 2021 · 5 June 2021 ·
A Brit, a Scot, a Kiwi, and an Aussie walk up a hill.
Then down again. Then up again. For 42 kilometres.
It’s not a joke, but sometimes they wish it was.
Forget about banana bread and jigsaw puzzles; we’ve spent our winter lockdown training for the biggest physical challenge any of us have ever faced.
On 5 June 2021, we will be hiking a marathon along the stunning South Downs Way from Brighton, taking in spectacular views of the finest unspoilt coastline from the chalk cliffs of Seven Sisters Country Park.
Sounds pretty idyllic, right? Just don’t forget the three massive hills, reaching an elevation gain of 3,164 feet, spread across approximately 13 hours of hiking. Oh yeah, we’re scared witless.
Terror aside, we’re pretty excited for this challenge, and honoured to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause. Macmillan require each entrant to raise a minimum of £250. This ensures that the funds raised on the day are proportionate to the efforts involved in its organisation. All up, that’s £1000 from our team.
Our efforts are dedicated to two very special people who left a lasting impact long after they passed on:
Ang Boon Yu was a loving father and husband with a passion for marathons; it seems quite fitting to pay tribute to him in this form, albeit walking not running. His compassion and kindness lives on through his children.
Granda Raymond Linton never gave up on running and even through his cancer treatment ran marathons. The best way to honour this loving grandfather, father, and husband is to walk the distance with his same determination and strength
We’re grateful to each and every one of you for any way that you can contribute. Scroll down for a little info about the charity.
