We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

A huge THANK YOU to each and every one of you who have sponsored me.  I had enormous fun and whilst we ran on round the last bend into 2nd place, Gud Day, my horse faded in the final half furlong to finish a creditable 5th.  That said the whole day revolved around raising money for Cancer Research UK.

If you have not yet done so, there is still time to donate.

My husband has been diagnosed with an untreatable degenerative disease closely linked to Parkinsons.  This encouraged me to raise funds for charity and regrettably Cancer is a disease which either directly or indirectly affects all of our friends and/or family at some point during our lives.  Representing the sport of Point-to-Point racing, think of people involved in the sport who have fought for their lives in the battle against cancer:  Jill Dawson, who, notwithstanding chemotherapy treatment, still managed to train the champion horse last season Palypso De Creek.  John Sharp, a past Chairman of the PPORA, an ex Jockey, Clerk of the Course to name but some of "Sharpy's" many achievements.   Godfrey Maundrell who's words speak for themselves:  " In 1995 I was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer at the end of my most successful season riding till then. After a bit of re-plumbing, chemo- and radio- therapy I was able to race ride the next season although it was a case of two old gentlemen going round neither of whom wanted to exert themselves too much.   When I managed to ride a winner the following season it was to me like Bob Champion and Aldaniti even though it was a Confined race at Barbury Castle not the National at Aintree. Spare rides being hard to come by I then decided to acquire three horses of my own (one of which I named Think Positive) and had another fourteen seasons of fun."

I ask you to donate generously to show your support for these individuals who illustrate so very clearly how important Cancer Research is - any breakthrough, no matter how small, could be crucial to all our futures.

Thank you.
