We are radically advancing research to achieve a life free from epilepsy

Story

At the start of 2018, I was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy. At first I thought it would be sorted within months and my life would be back to normal by summer, but after many types of medication, tests and complications, I now realise how much epilepsy affects people.

I have received amazing support from my family and friends, but support can only be found where there is awareness. My aim is to raise awareness about epilepsy. My boyfriend and I are hosting a fundraising day at Horncastle Community Member Squash Club on Saturday 22nd September with many activities to make an enjoyable family day.

Upstairs at the squash club there are plenty of family friendly activities, a cake sale and a raffle to end the day. On the squash courts, from 10am til 2pm anyone, regardless of age, ability or experience, can try their hand at squash with one of our dedicated club players and from 2pm til 6pm there is a tournament for anyone to enter with some great prizes.

All donations, both online and at the fundraising day, will go straight to Epilepsy Research UK in order to help them further progress in their research to improve the lives of those suffering from epilepsy.

About the charity

The Epilepsy Research Institute’s mission is to radically advance research for the 1 in 100 people living with epilepsy. A life free from epilepsy is possible. But only through research.
